If you’re dreaming of a small, intimate London wedding filled with personality, style, and iconic backdrops, Lara and Josh’s summer wedding in Chelsea is the perfect inspiration.

From a relaxed stroll through Chelsea’s charming streets to an unforgettable portrait session on Albert Bridge, their day was effortlessly cool, deeply personal, and full of joy.

A Relaxed Start: Strolling Through Chelsea, LondonA Joyful London Town Hall Wedding Photography at Chelsea Town Hall

One of the things I loved most about this wedding was how un-rushed and natural everything felt.

I met Lara and Josh before their ceremony whilst they got ready together at home, and in my true documentary style I felt their peace and calmness as they did their hair and makeup, got changed and passed each other in their routines. So simple and effortless, I love capturing the moments of getting ready, every wedding is different and this more felt special - as though I was a fly on the wall.

Instead of hopping in a car, we walked together to their local tube station and walked through the streets of Chelsea—soaking up the sunshine, laughing, and capturing those candid, in-between moments that make wedding photography feel so real.

These are always some of my favourite moments to photograph—no pressure, just genuine connection.

An Intimate Ceremony at Chelsea Town Hall

We arrived at Chelsea Town Hall where their closest family were waiting.

Their ceremony was small, emotional, and beautifully simple—exactly what an intimate London wedding should be. No fuss, no stress—just the people who matter most.

And then came the moment everyone waits for…

Confetti on the Iconic Steps

After the ceremony, Lara and Josh stepped out onto the famous Chelsea Town Hall steps for their confetti moment—and it did not disappoint.

Sunlight pouring down, laughter everywhere, and confetti flying—it was one of those moments that feels straight out of a movie.

We followed it with a few relaxed family portraits before their guests made their way to The Pig's Ear to kick off the celebrations.

Epic Wedding Portraits at Albert Bridge

While their family headed to the pub, the three of us went on a little adventure toward the Thames and the iconic Albert Bridge.

This location was especially meaningful—Josh is an engineer, and Albert Bridge happens to be his favourite in London. And honestly? It delivered.

We may or may not have nearly risked our lives getting that epic shot in the middle of the road—but with a bit of careful timing (and a lot of trust), we made it happen.

And WOW—it was worth it.

Golden summer light, iconic London architecture, and a couple who were fully up for it = pure magic.

The final images feel exactly how I love wedding photography to feel: relaxed, stylish, and effortlessly editorial.

Effortless Style with a Personal Twist

Bride holds her Bouquet and gazes outside of her window

Lara’s outfit was everything. A chic two-piece bridal look, paired with chunky shoes and a second-hand headpiece—modern, sustainable, and completely her.

Groom walks out of his house

Josh looked equally sharp in a navy suit, finished with a pearl-studded tie (which I am still obsessed with).

Their flowers—crafted by F for Flower—were the perfect finishing touch. Natural, elegant, and full of texture, they complemented the whole aesthetic beautifully.

A Laid-Back Celebration at the Pub

After portraits, we made our way to The Pig's Ear, where their family were waiting.

It was a hot July day, so a cold drink and a seat in the shade were very well earned.

They spent the afternoon laughing, chatting, and celebrating—keeping things low-key ahead of their bigger wedding celebration in Italy a month later.

And honestly? It was perfect.

Why 35mm Film Photography is Perfect for Weddings

There’s something about film that digital just can’t replicate:

  • Soft, nostalgic tones that feel timeless

  • Natural grain that adds texture and emotion

  • A slower, more intentional approach to capturing moments

  • That beautiful, imperfect magic that makes every frame feel unique

Film works so well for weddings like this—intimate, stylish, and full of feeling. It pairs perfectly with candid photography and adds an extra layer of storytelling to the day.

Retro Wedding Video Magic

Alongside their photography, we also captured their retro wedding video—and it is so good.

There’s something incredibly special about combining film photography with vintage-style video. Together, they create a cohesive, nostalgic feel that transports you right back into the moment.

I’ll be embedding their video here, along with a link to learn more about my retro wedding films.
